The fourth inter-university badminton tournament titled ‘East-West University Winter Smash-2019’ sponsored by KRAKO, a snacks brand of PRAN Foods Limited, will kick off on Friday, says a press release.

Forty universities will participate in the four-day long badminton championship to be held on East West University (EWU) campus in Dhaka. Badminton Federation of Bangladesh will assist the tournament with their logistics.

A press conference was held regarding the tournament on Monday held at PRAN Center in the capital’s Badda.

Saiful Islam Shikdar, Chief Operating Officer of PRAN Foods Limited, said: “We have been involved with the tournament for the third time to make badminton more popular in Bangladesh. The main aim of KRAKO is to work with country’s young generation and help them flourishing their talents.”

Ali Hasan Alam, General Manager of PRAN Foods Limited said: “The tournament has got huge response from youth. We hope, PRAN KRAKO will be more popular among the all class including the youths.”

ASM Ashif, Assistant Professor at East West University & moderator of the university’s sports club, said: “The EWU Winter Smash is the biggest inter university badminton tournament in the country. This year, 100 teams from 40 universities will participate in six categories.

Eleash Mridha, Managing Director of PRAN Group, Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustee of East West University and Professor Dr. M.M Shahidul Hassan, Vice Chancellor are likely to inaugurate the event on Thursday.”

Razibul Islam Lanin, Category Manager of PRAN Foods Ltd and Ayaz Al Amin, Referee of Bangladesh Badminton Federation, among others, were present in the press conference.
